What is going on?

Just realized that learning Japanese is soooo not popular in Taiwan. I know many people would disagree with me.

But.

I've tried to find self-learning magazines for a couple of days. The things I've found so far? Not much. There were like, two whole stands of English-learning magazines, but only two Japanese-learning ones! What is going on here? How come people are that desperate to learn English?

And radio programs! Is it true that there is no Japanese-teaching radio programs out there?

Accidentally ran into this show

Last night I was channel-surfing and saw Battlestar Galactica.

It was the first time I came across it. Unbelievable for a sci-fi fan like me. I guess since I was consumed with Star Trek already. I couldn't divide my attention into other fandoms.

I've heard of Battlestar Galactica, big time, from sci-fi forums, and recently, from a show called Canada's Next Top Model. The show host, Tricia Helfer, played a role in it. So, there you got it. This was the reason I stopped and watched the entire episode of Battlestar Galactica last night...

Will I watch it again? Definitely! If I know when it is on.

Even though I picked up the show just last night, I kinda could tell what was going on.

The military declared marshal law, so it's really tense on that station. The vice president, who's also a scientist, had a dark secret and got blackmailed, so he had to do something unethical. The VP was weird, though, because he could hear/see a girl apparently no one else could see. The military head person, who's in command now and was so pussy that he got manipulated by his girlfriend and did something really stupid. The president was locked up by military command, and escaped with the help of the son of some military big-and-important person, who's sick in bed and unconscious. Meanwhile, some dude and a chick who were just trying to kill each other a minute ago were playing a basketball-like sport on a planet. You could just feel the sexual tension between them. Playing a sport, yeah, right. *roll eyes*

The really important conclusion I got was: human-like machines were a big threat to humans, and they were in a war.

Yes. *nod* That summed up the whole thing.
